After a life devoted to teaching Physical Education also being involved in competitive athletics with a career highlight as being Raelene Bolyle's training partner for both the Moscow Olympics and the Brisbane Commonwealth Games, Mark Lancman started off as a second hand furniture dealer in Prahran sorting after eclectic and interesting pieces from what people had to offer.
His business then evolved into predominantly new furniture specialising in the use of reclaimed Australian timber (RAT) in making affordable timeless pieces. This was way before terms such as sustainable living and renewable resources were bantered around; as well as designing and manufacturing accent pieces.
Early 2009, Mark went away from Melbourne's suburbs of Prahran and South Yarra (the Melbournian hub for Interior Designers, furniture dealers), to Murrumbeena with a showroom that truly showcases his range of furniture and rekindled his creative drive in offering unique designs in outdoor and indoor furniture both from selected imports and Australian made products.
The East & West outdoor range came about from the marrying of Sakkho Javanese Teak Tiles (the East) and high quality Australian made Stainless Steel frames (the West). This merger resulted in a range of outdoor furniture that is truly unique and innovative for both the domestic and commercial markets.
With proven experience and a reputation within the industry, Mark has been servicing both professionals and private clients for over than two decade as a supplier and designer now taking the versatility offered by Sakkho Teak Tiles to becoming a pioneer in outdoor furniture design.
